Nestled amongst the rocky outcrops under Alexandra’s iconic Clock on the Hill, our luxury one-bedroom private retreat allows you to unwind on our Shaky Bridge Pinot Noir vineyard, while indulging in pure uninterrupted views of the surrounding Central Otago landscape.

The historic Shaky Bridge itself is right on your doorstep, and leads you into the town centre - or along the banks of the Manuherikia River where fly fishing awaits.

We want to share our little piece of paradise with you, and our beautiful schist stone family home has a Guest House that is equipped with luscious linens, finest teas and a natural plant-based body care range, making it the perfect place to indulge.

It’s 'town meets country' where the choices for recreation are endless. You can literally plan your mountain biking or hiking adventures out your window.

OUR STUDIO
The 55 sq m guest house is on the ground floor of our family home. Create your own gourmet meal in the galley-style kitchen with its modern aesthetic, unwind in the opulent marble bathroom and then nestle into the king-sized bed, adorned with exquisite Goose Down bedding.
​
Luxurious toiletries and home care products from Real World NZ and a collection of Storm and India teas are available for your use.
There is also a Weber barbecue in the courtyard for alfresco dining overlooking the Shaky Bridge, and breathtaking views of the Kopuwai Conservation Area.

Daily Housekeeping
It is completely self-service and has its own laundry so there isn't any daily housekeeping.
Wi-fi
There is unlimited Wi-fi onsite and Alexandra has a number of free hotspots, including the garden courtyard area outside the Unichem Pharmacy and the local library.
Garden
Your own private courtyard and lawn area is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a good book and a lovely glass of Shaky Bridge Wine.
Cafe
The Shaky Bridge Cafe is just a few steps away from your private retreat, where fresh coffee is served daily, as well as breakfast and lunch - complimented by our award-winning wines.
TV
Relax while watching great shows with the Netflix app or stream to Chromecast using your own devices.
Other Activities

Alexandra has its own movie theatre - Central Cinema in the Central Stories Museum, as well as the boutique Clyde Cinema. Or why not lie under the beautiful night sky and do some star gazing? Central Otago has some of the clearest skies in the country.

THINGS TO DO
Shaky Bridge Wine
Staying on the Shaky Bridge Vineyard, guests have the option of purchasing the wine direct, and have it delivered. Several other wineries are all within 15 minutes drive. www.shakybridge.co.nz.
Fishing
The Manuherikia and Clutha Rivers - both within walking distance, boast some of the best trout fishing around. The Manuherikia is also a world-class fly fishing destination.
Visitor Information Centre
The Alexandra I-site, also located within Central Stories, has all the information on activities in the area. www.centralotagonz.com
Cultural Sites
Central Otago is rich in gold mining history, with relics and many early settler ruins still in their original state for you to explore. Central Stories is the regional museum for the district, which features an Art Gallery, Research Facility and Art Shop - conveniently located five minutes away in Pioneer Park.
Mountain Biking
Alexandra is a natural mountain bike haven, catering for all levels, whether it's just a casual ride along the Millennium track, or the more technical rides behind the clock. The Otago Central Rail Trail also starts at Clyde, passing through Alexandra and heading out into the Maniototo finishing at Middlemarch.

Walking/Hiking
There are both mountain and river tracks to choose from so take your pick! With a great variety for the novice to the mountain goat including the Lake Roxburgh Walkway, the Obelisk loop track in the Kopuwai Conservation Area and the Omeo Gully Track below it.
